Supported Platforms

RAMCloud runs only on Linux.

• We currently use RHEL6 at Stanford, but we have used CentOS 5 in the past.

For highest performance, we recommend using Infiniband networking. RAMCloud supports Mellanox NICs (we have run with both ConnectX2 and ConnectX3 cards). RAMCloud also runs with standard kernel-based TCP/IP, but performance will be considerably worse than with Infiniband.
